Where to See Native Plants
Briarwood Nature Preserve - the birthplace and home of Caroline Dormon, a world renowned naturalist, author, artist and the first woman to be hired in the United States Forest Service. The Caroline Dormon Nature Preserve strives to carry on the work started by Miss Dormon by preserving wildflowers native to the south and educating the public on how natural forest ecosystems work.

Northlake Nature Center - The Center offers visitors the opportunity to experience three different ecosystems: hardwood forest, pine-hardwood forest and pond-swamp. The ponds in the cypress swamp area are the result of beaver dams and a beaver lodge is visible from one of the centers raised boardwalks. Interpretive signs and outdoor classrooms enhance the visitors experience. Click Here to see a detailed map of the 400 acre Center.

Crosby Arboretum - The Crosby Arboretum is dedicated to educating the public about their environment. This mission is carried out by preserving, protecting, and displaying plants native to the Pearl River Drainage Basin ecosystem, providing environmental and botanical research opportunities, and offering cultural, scientific, and recreational programs.

Cajun Prairie - A project to restore a ten acre plot of Cajun Prairie began in 1988 in Eunice, Louisiana. Volunteers used only local seeds and plugs collected from nearby remnants so this prairie is as Cajun as can be.

Plant ID
USDA Plant Database - Plant database, can be searched by state, common name or scientific name.

iNaturalist - One of the world’s most popular nature apps, iNaturalist helps you identify the plants and animals around you. Get connected with a community of over 750,000 scientists and naturalists who can help you learn more about nature!
